Quando alguém diz que o Rock and Roll morreu, é porque não conhece o Supersuckers. Vindos do deserto do Arizona, a banda, que inicialmente faria algo parecido com heavy metal, resolveu aceitar suas influências e misturaram Rock and Roll com a música sulista dos USA. O resultado é um Rock muito competente e que pode ser digerido acompanhando um barril de cerveja e torresmos.
Eddie Spaghetti, é o cara que toca essa banda louca pra frente. Com uma linha de guitarras rápidas e sem firulas, a banda faz aquilo que se deve fazer e como se deve fazer. Pouca frescura, poucas viagens, poucas invenções e letras que falam de estrada, bebida, loucuras e mulheres. Pra não te deixar perdido, o som é nos moldes do Hellacopters (ah, você taambém não conhece? Melhor se informar).
Esta é uma banda que certamente você jamais escutará no rádio, jamais verá um CD deles nas prateleiras do supermercado (quiçá das lojas especializadas), mas, se ouvir, vai se perguntar do porquê o sucesso deles não vingar. Pelo menos é o que eu questiono.
Existem rumores da banda fazer apresentações no Brasil em novembro. Mais precisamente dias 27 e 28 em São Paulo e Goiânia respectivamente. Se você estiver de bobeira, vá. Valerá a pena.
Se você quiser conhecer um pouco mais sobre a banda, recomendo começar ouvindo o The Sacrilicious Sounds of the Supersuckers , de 95. Outros álbuns muito legais da banda são The Evil Powers of Rock ‘n’ Roll e Motherfuckers Be Trippin’.
Como aperitivo, fica ai um clipe de uma das músicas mais legais da banda: Rock-N-Roll Records (Ain’t Sellin’ This Year) – já sabem, fica ai até a gravadora tirar do ar, ok?
É isso ai, se isso não é um belo Rock and Roll, não sei o que é!
